How to Shop Camera Stores: An Inside Perspective

I spent about 8 months of last year selling still and video cameras in a retail environment. As a professional photographer and someone who has spent many years as an outside sales representative in the imaging industry, this was an eye-opening experience on many levels. I’d like to share some of what I learned with you.
Let’s start with the most commonly asked questions posed by retail customers:
- Can you fix my broken digital camera? The answer is almost always… what do you think I’m going to say here… “No”. Most of the broken cameras that came in the door were digital point-and-shoots, cameras with fixed, non-removable lenses, priced between $150 and $400. Read more
