Eight New Books About Photography
© Paul Mozell 2011
Focal Press, an imprint of Elsevier, Inc., has published a number of books by pro photographers, about
photography, within the past year. These slim volumes will appeal to both new and experienced shooters. Thumbing through the stack of books for the first time, I was impressed with the quality of graphic design as well as the attention to detail from page to page. Volumes in the Field Guide series are compact enough (4.5 x 6 inches) to toss in a camera backpack for reference or inspiration when photographing on location. Read more
Review: Light Blue — Software for Studio Management

In fact, professional photographers we speak with are noticing an alarming trend as many couples choose to grab their digital image files and run to online outlets for cheap DIY options. The pros lose product sales, and the couples often sacrifice quality, receiving albums made with cheaper materials. Read more
Review: Ilford Expands Inkjet Paper Line

by Paul Mozell
Ilford, the recognized producer of chemistry and media for wet-lab and inkjet photographic printing, has expanded its already-deep Galerie Line of professional media. I recently had the opportunity to test a range of their new papers and was impressed with the results. I made my first inkjet prints on industrial-sized drum printers from Iris Graphics — machines originally designed and built for the commercial print world. I was an early adopter of the first desk-top color printers from HP and Epson, and wrestled with early wide-format roll-fed printers from LaserMaster and Encad. Inkjet printing has come a long, long way since then. This qualifies me as a picky and experienced user! Read more
